Sep 7th: As Assistant Executive Secretary I set an appointment for Melanie with a Councilor of the Bishopric. She was sitting in the foyer after and we had some time so I went and sat in the chair next to her to try to chat with her! The Councilor kept interrupting our conversation so the conversation got cut short... :(

Oct 19th: I ended up having to set another appointment for Melanie and this time I purposely planned extra time (no other appointments) after so I could try to pick up our conversation where it was left off! The seat next to her was taken!!! Oh no!! I sat down on the couch across the foyer and hoped for at least a few comments. I made a comment and Melanie came and joined me on the couch! I was so excited! What would a cute girl like her want with me! Anyway, Church started and I didn't get the chance (or chickened out) and didn't "get" her phone number... Right before church ended Melanie walked by me in the hall and I made one last effort to talk for a minute. I got her number!!! Then I could continue conversations! I was so excited!

Nov 1st: First Date!!! We went on a scavenger hunt in Kaysville for our first date. We talked a bunch and it felt very natural to hang out with Melanie! She is so easy to get along with!

Nov 8th: Another Date! We took the frontrunner to City Creek in SLC

Nov 22nd: And Another Date! We went to the aquarium and looked at their lights!

Dec 1st: First time I put my arm around Melanie! We went to her friends Flute concert, and while we were sitting there watching I put my arm around her and for some reason she leaned into me. That made me super happy and I absolutely loved it!

Dec 16th: First Kiss!! I finally got courage up to kiss her! I must have been really nervous because she said I just went in for a super fast kiss and then just hugged her and said "bye!" and left. I was absolutely nervous! 

2026

Jan 1st: WE ARE OFFICIAL!!!! We fully went exclusive (not that we weren't up to this point already)

Jan 17th: First Flight! We flew up to Jackson, WY in my airplane, got some lunch, walked around for a bit, then flew back home. It was awesome hanging out and seeing things together

Mar 27-Apr 1: Our first trip together! We went to San Diego together to go pick up Melanie's amazing 1966 Ford Mustang. We had an amazing time talking and getting to know each other on a much deeper level!

May 15th: We went to our first baseball game (SLC Bee's) together, We had a great time watching the game and got us matching SLC Bee's hats!

Jun 22nd: Attended our first Padres game together at the Petco Park in San Diego! Had a great day with Angie and Jerry! We also went to the San Diego Temple open house. We walked through the sealing room and I really felt that I should come back to that sealing room with Melanie in the near future to make our relationship permanent through the eternities!!!

Jul 1st: PROPOSAL!!!!! I almost died keeping things in so it would be a surprise for Melanie. We went to Francis Peak and that's where I almost had a heart attack right as I was about to get down on one knee and asking her that magical question! (More below from Melanie on this!)
